The focus of the Language B courses is on language acquisition and development of the four primary language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. You will learn how to communicate effectively in a number of situations and within the culture(s) in which the language is spoken. To choose Language B courses you must have some previous experience of studying the language. A Language B course on HL will give you a Danish A-level, whereas SL will give you a Danish B-level.
Ab initio course/Beginner’s Course
Danish ab initio SL
The Danish ab initio course is a language acquisition course for students with little or no experience of the language. The course is organized into three themes: individual and society, leisure and work, and urban and rural environment. Each theme comprises a list of topics that provide students with opportunities to practice and explore the language and to develop intercultural understanding. Through the development of receptive, productive and interactive skills, students develop the ability to respond and interact appropriately in a defined range of everyday situations.
Contact the IB coordinator if you consider the ab initio option.
