What is IB?

As one of twelve schools in Denmark, Hasseris Gymnasium & IB School offers an international, upper secondary school leaving examination equivalent to the Danish »Studentereksamen« (STX). The teaching language is primarily English, and the curriculum differs in various ways from that of the Danish STX.

The IB Diploma, as this exam is called, is developed by the non-profit educational organization, The International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO), founded in 1968 with the aim of developing students with the intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalizing world. Currently, IB programmes for children and young people can be found in more than 3,000 schools in 141 countries. At Hasseris Gymnasium & IB School we have around 110 students from many different countries and with various cultural backgrounds.

Some of the students are attending the Pre-IB class, a preparatory class more or less similar to the Danish 1.g, whereas the rest are students at the actual 2-year-IB-programme. Worldwide, an IB Diploma Exam is highly recognized for its academic standards and gives admission to universities all over the world.
