IB Monsoon Day’ 2011

IB Day 2011 aka the ‘IB Monsoon Day’ – 80’s Olympics!

On the 18–19th of August the IB classes of Hasseris Gymnasium and IB Worlds School were in Sæby for the annual IB Day, and what a day!

1.i and 2.i showed up on the 18th for social activities and information acquiring, but the day it really went down was the 19th, when the 3.i class showed up. It all started super early in the morning, when the IB Day Committee members arrived and started preparing for the upcoming events. At this point it was dripping a bit, not much. As the hours went by and more of the 1.i and 2.i classes awoke, the mood was generally not very positive, seeing at this point a fair shower was coming down outside. Finally, all the 3.i’s showed up, and the day was ready to take off!

To be honest, it was pouring down by now, but somehow the committee had managed to pump up the mood to a point where most people were excited and ready to get down and dirty – and so they got. The classes were mixed together, and soon people were out in the pouring rain, in their theme-required leotards, short-shorts, giant afro wigs and colorful jogging suits, throwing themselves around on the ground, doing things such as ‘Human Scrabble’, ‘Ultimate Frisbee’ and dipping their faces in flour for candy!

The mood was great, and as the day came to an end, the finale came up – ‘The Gauntlet!’ – where the two teams with the highest score had to test their balance, their make-up skills and their tea-bagging skills, not to mention the nerve wrecking candy-lace sucking at the end. All in all, a day which had the worst of odds to succeed, but did it anyways thanks to everyone who showed up and kept a great attitude throughout all the trials. A bonding experience indeed!
